Removing Exterior Door Hanldes with Ease!

This is my way of removing the outer door handles. Works for me and I'm aware of the proper way to remove the outer door handles. But it requires a bunch of removal. This method works the same for both the front sedan door handles as well.

First you will need a

  1. 10MM Wrench

  2. Ratchet with long extension and 10mm socket

  3. long flat head screwdriver

  4. #3 screwdriver (important that it is a number 3 size screwdriver)

  5. regular screwdriver of your choosing

First thing to do is remove in door panel from the door. Here are the locations of the screws on a Coupe door panel with automatic windows.

After you remove all of the hardware and clips. It should come out with a bit of pulling.

Once your at this point you’ll need to remove the three screws from the door latch. You’ll need a #3 screwdriver to remove these screws. If they are too stubborn then grab a impact screwdriver to break them loose.

next you’ll need to remove two 10mm bolts. Here are some pictures of how I was able to get access to the bolts.

After that is done. You will need to remove the lock cylinder from the door handle. The lock cylinder is held on by a “C” clip and you will need a long flat head screw driver to release the clip. It will make things so much easier when removing. Then you should be able to remove the handle carefully. And slowly rotate the handle to unscrew the rod. And make sure to count the rotations.

a helpful tip is to write how many rotations it took to remove the rod from the handle. And write it on the old or new door handle.

and that’s pretty much it… you can follow the rest of the directions in the reverse order to install the handle and should come out looking great

if you have any questions or think there’s something I left out. Feel free to email me or message me. Thank you 🤙
